Pointless talks

Nobody knows what the talks between Netanyahu and Abbas in Washington are good for. Nothing is to be solved. Obama could get more Jewish votes in the elections and, perhaps, Bibi will promise that Israel will not attack Iran, but that is all. First of all, the Palestinians are not represented at the meeting. Abbas means nothing and Hamas is not present. Besides, after all those failures, nobody in Palestine believes in the negotiations. The situation is similar on the other side.

The majority of the Israelis trust in the strong military and booming economy only. This is what should help them to save their state. The majority of the Palestinians think the future is in the population expansion, meaning more children raise a chance for an independent viable state. Since this Washington summit cannot bring, due to the objective reasons, anything good, it could bring a disaster. Let us not forget that after the Camp David talks had collapsed, the second intifada started. What is so good and fruitful at manifesting the hopeless situation in front of the whole world's eyes?

At least for some time, both sides should pretend something constructive is going on so that these talks could collapse gradually and in dignity. The tension is growing as Hamas murdered four Jewish settlers. We do not know what the Israeli army prepares for the Palestinians as revenge, but it is going to be bloody of course. Apart from this, Netanyahu will probably succumb to his coalition partners‘pressure and the freeze on West Bank building will be lifted. It is hardly surprising but there will be blood after these pointless talks.
