Against radicalism in every religion

The sentence: "Islam does not permit the killing of innocent people, regardless of their creed, ethnicity, race or nationality", was read during Friday prayers in 200 of mosques across Canada. The Canadian Council of Imams (almost 40 senior Muslim religious leaders) felt the need to condemn terrorism even more expressively (even if they did not mention radicalism or terrorism, they repeatedly condemned religious violence). "People have done many, many condemnations of terrorism but it has never been done well enough or complete enough to get people to pay attention and to say this is a point of sea change," a spokesman for the Canadian Council of Imams said.

"The declaration comes at a time of rising tension that the council says Muslims all over North America are noticing. The council made specific reference to the recent controversy over plans to build a mosque and Islamic centre a couple of blocks from Ground Zero in New York," CBC said. Islamic leaders have also noted with some concern that the end of Ramadan this year will occur around Sept. 11. Because of the sensitivity around the anniversary, many of them decided not to celebrate the end of Ramadan.

Modesty in language and in acts is needed in every religion and in the behavior of every person. The life could be easier for many people.
