When Obama´s special representative to Afghanistan
Richard Holbrooke could not explain to the US senators what is the goal of the war, how can an ordinary soldier with the limited amount of the information know ? That soldier who kills civilians repeatedly. What can cross his mind during the long night watches, or while watching TV pretty bored at the military camp ? That soldier does not know why he must kill in a remote country.

When those questions are not answered, the horrors of the war can not be justified by any noble reason. There is no mother to appease, no friends to support. These could be the main reasons of the record suicide numbers in the US army. History just repeats itself and the Vietnam veterans could tell us more. The anti-suicide educational programms seem not to work so far. It is not fair for Obama however. He was dragged into the war and he can not stop it because the military industrial complex is stronger than him.

It is Bush who should talk to desperate mothers, not Obama. Tony Blair avoided them like coward (during the Iraq investigation), who knows what would Obama do, if confronted. He can not bring the sons back to mothers and, as well, he would have a very tough time explaining to them why is the US government paying huge sums to the archenemy from Taliban. So, probably the simpliest way is to avoid those mothers. Just like a smaller brother in the United Kingdom did.
